Cocktails & Creatives…and the return of one Kelly Mac!
Wow…so it’s been a long while since I have posted any type of blog report. May was a pretty hectic month with everything that went on, and with June in full swing, it doesn’t seem to stop. I started tinkering with “summer hours” at work, and because of that I’m enjoying quite the day off and blogging a bit earlier than usual. 10-hour work days are no party, folks – although I’m sure the freelancers and company owners are no strangers to such situations. But I’ve come to the realization that I think I work better when I start work earlier in the morning and am condsidering switching once the summer hours end. Who knew? That will put a kink in my usual 2am-3am sleep time, but oh well, there’s nothing really to watch except the usual Scrubs or Bernie Mac Show reruns.
Anyway, yesterday was another episode of the AIGA Jacksonville’s monthly Cocktails & Creatives at Chicago Pizza in Jacksonville Beach. Lots of folks showed up to this one, and as always, you end up running into people you only end up seeing on that monthly basis. But it was good to see everyone, always a good vibe at the C&C. Got to see Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Celtics and the Lakers. Awesome ending, the score was thisclose before Boston pulled away in the last few seconds! And I got FREE PIZZA!!! The bartender accidentally gave away my pizza that I ordered to someone else who ordered the same thing, so he gave me another one on the house, so believe me that was some good eating (and still conducive to my Weight Watchers diet…um, live-it. Remind me to tell you about that one).
Biggest surprise of the night – the return of one Kelly Mac!!! She is about to embark on yet another of her famous roadside journeys around the country, and she made a quick stop in Jax to see her chiropractor, then her design peeps at C&C. So that was a nice chance to catch up with her, find out about her upcoming adventure. She leaves today, actually, on her way to Colorado State by way of campsites and parks along the way. Godspeed to her, that’s awesome that she takes time to do that – some folks only wish they had the gumption (and the time) to undertake such a ride!
Anyway, my night pretty much ended early. I chose to forego the after-C&C trip to the Brix (I wasn’t drinking anyway). Very uncharacteristic of me, but I was just exhausted, but I noticed that Thursday nights are still very much alive in the Jacksonville/Jacksonville Beach area. Pretty interesting, I forgot that’s when the weekend really starts!
